The person involved in the activities of illegal armed groups in a foreign country has been prosecuted
The
State Security Service continues to take measures to identify and prosecute
citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan involved in the activities of illegal
armed groups in foreign countries.
As
a result of operational-search activities conducted by the State Security Service
together with the Ukrainian special services, Mirahad Tofig oglu Mirismayilli,
a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, born in 1979, wanted in connection
with the criminal case for participation in the activities of armed groups in
the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, which are not provided by the
legislation of that state and the Republic of Azerbaijan, was identified and
detained in Ukraine and brought to our country.
Mirahad
Mirismayilli is suspected of going to Syria on June 20, 2013 to participate in
the activities of the criminal group “Jundu Sham” led by Hajiyev Agil Tagi oglu
and participating in the armed conflicts there with other citizens of the
Republic of Azerbaijan.
It
was also identified that some citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan were
killed during the ongoing armed conflicts in those regions.
In
connection with the criminal case conducted by the State Security Service based
on the above-mentioned facts, Mirahad Mirismayilli was charged under Articles
12.1 and 279.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan
(participation in the activities of armed groups outside the Republic of
Azerbaijan) and has been remanded in custody based on the court decision. He
confessed to the crime during his testimony to the investigation and expressed
his sincere remorse.
Operational-investigative measures are underway in connection with the criminal case.
