A meeting was held between the Chief of the State Security Service and General
Commander of Financial Guard of Italy
On 27th of November, Chief of the State Security Service of
the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev has received a
delegation led by Giuseppe Zafarana, General Commander of Financial Guard of
the Republic of Italy who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.
During the conversation, the sides expressed gratification with close
ties between the two countries and the level of existing friendly relations as
a result of the efforts of the presidents of both countries. The sides also
exchanged views on the prospects for the development of cooperation.
Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev stressed that both countries have always
supported each other in the international arena and emphasized the importance
of intensifying bilateral contacts to prevent new global challenges and
threats. Emphasizing the need to further intensify joint efforts in the fight
against transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, money laundering or
other property obtained through crimes, terrorist financing, human trafficking,
smuggling, cybercrime and other similar illegal activity, Naghiyev informed
that a security system that can adequately meet the requirements of the new
period has been formed in Azerbaijan.
At the same time, special emphasis was placed on expanding cooperation
between the academies of the security agencies of the countries, increasing the
knowledge and experience of employees of the State Security Service,
involvement in training courses organized by the relevant Italian educational
institution.
While expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality, the
Italian guest said that the visit to Azerbaijan impressed him greatly. Zafarana
expressed confidence that the multifaceted relations between the two countries
will continue to develop and will be regular. While speaking about the
importance of joint combat against the abovementioned threats, Zafarana said
that there is a strong and sustainable partnership between Italy and
Azerbaijan.
The
extensive discussions on other issues of mutual interest were also held during
the meeting.
