A meeting with the president of the OSCE PA was
held at SSS
On
November 14, the Chief of the State
Security Service, Chairman of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Missing
Persons and Hostages Ali Naghiyev, received the delegation led by the president
of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Mrs. Pia Kauman. During the meeting, which
took place in the conditions of mutual exchange of views, issues related to the
current situation prevailing in the South Caucasus region after the military
operations in Karabakh, ensuring the safe living of people in the territory of
Karabakh, the consequences caused by the high contamination of that region with
mines, and the fate of the missing and hostages as a result of the conflict were
primarily discussed.
The
Chairman of Commission, Ali Naghiyev highlighted that our state is currently
carrying out large-scale reconstruction works in the lands liberated from
occupation, however a significant part
of the mentioned areas had been mined by Armenia and despite this had been the
subject of repeated negotiations, the fact that the Azerbaijan side have not
been provided with mine maps or the locations of the mines have been
inaccurately indicated presents a serious obstacle for the speedy
implementation of the reconstruction process. Noting that the victims of mine
terrorism are increasing day by day, it was emphasized that the OSCE along with
other international organizations should put pressure on Armenia to provide
accurate mine maps.
Addressing
the issue of the disappearance of nearly 4,000 of our citizens as a result of
the military aggression and ethnic cleansing policy of Armenia against
Azerbaijan Ali Naghiyev stated that although the liberation of our lands from
occupation facilitated their search, it is still impossible to clarify the fate
of a large number of our compatriots. Armenia, demonstrating
non-constructiveness in this area as well, under various pretexts refuses to
cooperate in the field of search of mass graves locations where azerbaijanies
were buried.
The
Chairman of the State Commission Ali Naghiyev highlighted that despite all
this, Azerbaijan spares no efforts to establish lasting peace and stability in
the region, always prioritizing the principles of neighborliness and peaceful
coexistence comprehensively ensures and guarantees the safety of people of
Armenian origin living in Karabakh and stressed the importance of normalization
of relations with Armenia and signing of a peace treaty.
During
the conversation the visitor was informed that while a real possibility of
establishment of lasting peace in the region exists attempts of certain states
to arm Armenia with the purpose of destabilizing the situation in the region
again are totally unacceptable and that such cases shall cause another
reignition of war.
The
president of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Mrs. Pia Kauma, in her turn noted
that the organization she represents can provide the necessary support to the
process of building trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia and highlighted her
position regarding the future security of the region.
Other
issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
